logged in. changed the gems. went to a dummy. missed my first 2 haunts xD
but didnt miss after. its a bit luck based i suppose

dont get me wrong... i do read what ppl theorycraft, but i dont actually do it myself.
and advice from people like you just did does help out aswell.

let me explain it better
the last upgrade i got was the heroic bell trinket
before this i was playing with volcano and the tbarad trinket. thus i was hit and haste capped.

with the hbell i lost a lot of hit and haste because i had to reforge the volcano trinket to hit instead of haste.
having that done i was a little under hit cap and haste cap.
so i reenchanted some pieces with haste to get the hastecap. and i ended up with the same gems and enchants i have now. haste capped but a little under the hitcap. so i tested that on a target dummy and noticed that id miss some spells.
changed to the blue gems and didnt miss at all. so i kept it like that.

i dont blindly gem and enchant my gear. i try to do what i think is best by testing some litlle things. missing a haunt in a raid just pisses me off. or imagine playing destro. you hardcast a soulfire and it misses.

but still you gear wise you dont need ppl to make a bis set for you. changes are you will never get those pieces so u should play with what you get ur hands on. make sure that you get ur hitcap (or close to it xD). 20% haste (30 in raid) for the extra ua ticks. crit>mastery. if you follow that you will see that you will pretty much end up with the same gear the theorycrafters recommend.

Even if youre hardcasting soulfires.. missing 1 in 1000 is less of a dps loss than having all 1000 do less damage from having less int.
