Dont want to post links but i guess you know there are private classic and tbc servers around.
Did anyone of you ever tried those out? Is it worth a shot?
Is it relative bug free and no dead realms?

Private servers, from my experience, are poorly maintaned and barren...

There is a pretty popular vanilla one (netherland i think) which even has gms and such.
No idea how stable that thing is.
And yea its not legal but that is a concern of the hoster, not the players.
