Is it just me thinking single player games are just getting a bit outdated? |

Games like Skyrim, Deus Ex, Portal, Mass Effect and Half Life prove that there is a big market for single player games still. Not everyone likes playing online with other people. |

Aehm, when i look at the todays WoW generation, more and more people want single players. If you group up with 4 randoms or 4 npcs doesnt matter in the long run. |

From what I gather, MW3 has more players than BF3. Skyrim more than either. You play RPGs in longer sessions than FPSes though, so concurrent users is a bit misleading. Steam stats also only covers PC. Which, at least for MW3, is just a small part (as is painstakingly obvious). My point, though, is not that Skyrim isn't good or that single player games aren't. It is that I can't see why you would play single player games when, to me, gaming has become so much more than just a pass time activity. I have tried doing some single player over the last couple of years, but apart from games like bejeweld etc I just cant be arsed. It feels so pointless when there is nobody else in the game... |

I play singleplayer games for variation, solitude and relaxation. Multiplayer games are mostly social and competitive, not relaxing at all. Also there is a lot of good storytelling in singleplayer games, which mostly don't exist in multi. |
