Buying a new SSD disk - Intel X25-M SSD 160GB 2,5" (160GB)

I also need a CD/DVD to slap a Win 7 install on and realized I have no clue how big a Win 7 install is.

How much space is required on a CD/DVD to contain a windows 7 installer?

think it took about 3.1gb on my usbstick

(can recommend installing from usbstick over cd/dvd)

see http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/maga ... 35816.aspx for instructions

Thanks mate, that sounds like a good idea. I'll give it a try.

Found someone interested in buying my current computer for a fair price so I was thinking of selling it and buying a new one.

Had a hard time to decide between i5 and i7 but I finally landed on an i7 system because I don't wanna risk my CPU bottle-necking my GPU configuration.

This is purely a gaming rig and here is what I am considering buying:

ASUS P6X58D Premium, X58, Socket-1366
Intel Core i7 950 Quad 3,06Ghz
ASUS GeForce GTX 580 1536MB (probably x2, certainly at some point, hence the i7)
Corsair Dominator DHX+ DDR3 1600MHz 6GB (upgrading to 12GB when and if it's needed)
Noctua NH-D14 CPU Cooler
OCZ Vertex 2 120 GB SSD 3,5" S-ATA II TRIM/GC
Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced
MIST 1000W PSU rev.2

Total price around 1750 euro (2225 with dual gfx)

Obviously gonna do some neat overclocking on the CPU hence the expensive mobo (also need dual lan) and phat heat sink. I also decided to go for a 3,5" SSD instead of 2,5" as it is a bit cheaper and just as fast, it's never leaving the rig anyway so no need for it to fit a laptop. I've got a couple of terabytes with WDC Black lying around so only need a system disk.

I was wondering is if anyone have any experience with the Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced (did Mior get this?), or any other imba chassis for that matter? The chassis for me is always the hardest thing to pick because it's kinda hard to know exactly what you get, there is always so many small unforeseeable details. I've figured out that it doesn't come with dust filters in the doors (I think) which is kind of annoying for one :S

I have that chassi and i am very happy with it. It does have dust filters.
Plenty of room for cable managing and ten or so fans.

Does it have dust filters on all air intakes () or just in the front and psu?

There are no dust filters in the back or at the doors.

Looks like a core i7 + geforce 480 or better is the winning setup

So like. I bought an i7 2600k and a pretty p8p67 motherboard. That one was fucked (partly the SATA controller, partly other shit). Sent it back and spent a week computerless. Just got a new one and this shit hits the fan. Wiie. This SATA controller isnt fucking up though. Memory controllers and pci-e controllers are though, but just slightly.

Sucks.

On the other hand... 4.5GHz at sub 60 degrees with box cooler. Idle at 20-25 degrees. That is pretty neat.
