Why are you so desperate to keep from having a page file? You are even getting an SSD you can place it on... At no given time will you need more than 6GB active memory. And moving some pages isn't that heavy... Also about drivers I have personally never had any issues with any gfx drivers since way back with my GF3. ATI (should probably start calling them AMD now since they scrapped the ATI name) has often times had better bang for the buck solutions. I would like to say that when it comes to linux, green team owns red team any day. That makes me a bit sad  . Anyhow, I'm not fully updated on the pricing of 5870 compared to 480 but if nigma says theyre the same, then the 480 is a better choise (they are after all a bit faster in most situations). But again, if you got the patience, just wait for the 6800s and have your mind blown

i simply put a pagefile on my normal hdd instead of my ssd, it gets barely used anyway with 6gb memory but still allows me to open up SC2+WoW+cataclysm+firefox with many tabs when so desired

Correct article is correct, and that is why you should always disable / run the page file in memory if you can :>
If Mior uses more than 6gb of ram, well then he uses more than 6gb of ram. You can easily run wow + sc + firefox and some other programs with no page file on 6gb. But if you start up some very memory heavy programs like photoshop, 3ds max and the like I would imagine you would crack the 6gb threshold pretty quickly :>
