crapz still with the 950 being 1/3 the price the 965 was back then, and about the same performance, the E8400 should still win

Think i5 should be very close or even more bang for the buck nowadays though.

The E8400 is awesome because it has amazing OC capabilities, I got the 8500 which has slightly better capabilities as it has a 9.5x multiplier.
